Artist Alley Guidelines

Applications will open in early 2024. We appreciate your patience.

  • Price and Table Details – The tables in Artist Alley are four feet long. Each space is $100 and comes with one (1) full weekend badge. You may purchase an additional badge for the low low rate of $50.

Because of Bakuretsu Con’s small size, we want to offer the widest variety of artwork to our attendees. Therefore, we have decided to only offer four-foot tables, and to become a fully juried artist’s alley. Please include a brief listing of your artwork (prints, blankets, pins, etc), and a link to examples of your work.
  • Check in and Hours of Operation – When arriving at Artist Alley, you will need to check in at the Info Desk. You will need to provide a copy of your e-mail confirmation and proof of identification, at which point you will be shown to your table. Do not setup your stuff ahead of time, space has been pre assigned to you! Your Pre-Reg Badges should be picked up from Pre-Registration. Artists are required to have their badges with them at all times at their tables.

On Friday the alley will be open at 7am for check in and set up. The hours of operation for Artist Alley Staff are currently scheduled for:
    Friday 1:00pm – 7:00pm
    Saturday 9:30am -7:00pm
    Sunday 9:30am – 3:30pm

This is subject to change. We will notify exhibiting artists of scheduling changes as soon as possible.
  • Security and overnight – No overnight security will be provided for your table. The artists are responsible for cleaning up their tables at the end of every night. Bakuretsu Con will not be held liable of loss or damage of anything left out at the end of the night.
  • Food and Drink – Food and drink are allowed in all of the common areas of the convention center only, which includes Artist Alley. All artists are responsible for keeping their area clean. If your area becomes too messy, you will be asked to clean up. Failure to comply and/or repeat offenses will result in your expulsion from Artist Alley without refund as well as any additional hotel fees for cleaning.
  • Electricity – Electricity is available, but Bakuretsu Con cannot guarantee that your table will be next to an open outlet. If you want power, you will be responsible for providing your own power strips and extension cords. Keep in mind that several tables may have to share a single bank of outlets, so we ask that you try your best to make sure everyone who wants power can have it. Also, you will only be allowed one power strip per outlet (no daisy chaining strips together). This prevents overloads and helps make sure we are allowed to use the Convention Center’s outlets in future years.
  • Acceptable Items To Sell – The entire point of Artist Alley is to be able to show case your creative talents, whatever they may be. This does come with certain stipulations however. First, it (whatever it may happen to be) has to have been made by you. If you can go buy it in a store or the Dealers Room, it probably doesn’t belong in Artist Alley. Artist Alley is not an alternative to the Dealers Room. They cater to two different markets and will remain separated.

Second, it needs to be something you created. If you can make a perfect copy of someone else’s work, that’s very impressive. We’re impressed. But we want to see that unique spin you have – and so do our attendees. If you can meticulously copy someone else’s work, keep in mind that may infringe on their rights, sometimes known as copyrights, and that might be an issue for you. It won’t be an issue for us, though, because we will ask you to take that down. Bakuretsu Con staff has the final word on whether something may violate U.S. copyright and/or trademark laws, and you will be asked to remove anything deemed to be in violation. Failure to comply and/or repeat offenses may result in your expulsion from the convention without refund.
  • Adult Material – Yeah, you can absolutely do that at Baku. But (haha, butt) there are some rules.

    (1) We require all adult themed work (including, but not limited to, anything of a sexual nature, extreme violence/gore, and drug references) to be kept out of plain sight. In the past, artists have used well-placed stickers to keep art appropriate for all ages, or have used signs to indicate that there’s adult material available to potential customers upon request.

    (2) ID must be checked before allowing anyone to view 18+ content. It is the artist’s responsibility (or the responsibility of the artist’s agent/employee/friend-they-suckered-into-helping) to verify that the person viewing their work is 18+.

    (3) Bakuretsu Con reserves the right to review 18+ content for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. At the convention’s sole discretion, an artist may be obligated to remove one or more works from sale if the convention believes they violate local, state, or federal law.

Bakuretsu Con has the sole authority to determine violating content and to enforce the convention’s rules. We may, at our discretion, issue warnings to artist exhibitors. Repeated violations will result in ejection from the convention without refund.
  • Other General Guidelines:
    1. Respect the people around you. Everyone is at the convention to have fun and a little common courtesy makes that a lot easier.
    2. Music is prohibited in the Artists Alley except by permission of Bakuretsu Con. If music is super important to your whole thing, make sure you discuss it with a staffer at the earliest possible moment.
    3. You are responsible for keeping your area clean. If your area becomes too messy or if it is bothering someone else, you will be asked to clean up.
    4. Please keep your merchandise and materials to your area. If your property starts encroaching on your neighbor’s space or there are any complaints, you will be asked to move it back to your area.
    5. Any complaints or disputes should be brought to the attention of a member of the Artist Alley staff.
    6. While in Artist Alley all convention, local, state, and federal rules are in affect. Each Vendor is personally responsible for calculating, collecting, and reporting the appropriate Vermont sales tax on items sold. For information on Vermont State sales tax go to http://www.state.vt.us/tax
    7. Artists Alley Exhibitors are required to have badges for anyone behind their table.

Vendors

Bakuretsu Con has 400-600 attendees and is located in a small media market in northwestern New England. Our attendees love anime and video games and they love to buy from our vendors. But, obviously, we need to protect the interests of our attendees and our vendors. Bakuretsu Con limits the number of vendors who can exhibit and sell merchandise to a small number of vetted, high quality vendors who comply with our rules on legitimate goods and who follow local, state, and federal regulations.

We have no openings for our 2024 show.

Due to an abundance of spam submissions, we have regrettably closed our waitlist application for the time being.
