We don’t learn much about Japanese history but there is a wealth of anime which takes us into the past. We will walk through 500 years of Japan through the eyes of several anime, some very popular and beloved. Under the direction of a panelist who is also a history buff, we will look at specific examples of anime which relate the historical message of Japan. Those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it and this is our chance to use anime to become better citizens of the world.
